Amy Schlegel, Principal

I am honored to serve as the proud principal of St. Gregory the Great Parish School. I entered into my fourth year at St. Greg’s and am grateful to work with an amazing faculty and staff who dedicate themselves to our mission every day.  I attended Mount Mary University for both my undergrad and graduate studies and completed my administrative certification at Concordia University. My husband Jim and I have an 19 year old son who is in the U.S. Marines, and a 16 year old daughter who is a junior at DSHA. I have over 25 years of experience working in Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and continue to build upon my strong faith in Catholic education. My personal mission is to motivate, educate, and inspire others to be their best. I am so happy to be a part of the St. Greg’s community.

Sherry Fritz, Administrative Assistant

Hi my name is Sherry Fritz. I am blessed and grateful to be part of St. Gregory the Great Parish School. In 2002 I was hired as the Parish Secretary after 25 years in the travel business.  I enjoyed my job as Parish Secretary and loved meeting and interacting with all of the wonderful parishioners. In the summer of 2003, Fr. Ken Omernick asked me to take the secretary position at the school. I was so excited I practically flew across his desk and accepted! I have never regretted that decision.  While my job has changed over the years and I am now the Administrative Assistant, I still enjoy coming to school every day. I love interacting with all of the students and families.  One of my favorite things to do is to give tours of our wonderful school to prospective families. I get the opportunity to know them and show off our school and parish community.

My husband Bill and I have two wonderful daughters, Amy and Noelle.  We love spending time with our granddaughter, Elena as well as family weekends at our trailer in Waupaca. In my spare time I love to bake, read, sew and scrapbook.

I am always excited to begin a new school year at St. Greg’s and look forward to getting to know our new families better and to see how much the kids have changed and grown over the summer!

Kelly Rohrbach, School Secretary

Hi everyone, my name is Kelly Rohrbach and I have been the St. Gregory the Great School Secretary for the past 6 yrs. Prior to being the school secretary, I was a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pediatrics for 7 years and then a stay at home mom for 10 yrs. My husband and I have been parishioners at St. Greg's for about 15 years now.  We have 3 children. Our oldest son is a freshman at St. Thomas More High School and a St. Greg’s Alum, our daughter is in 7th grade at St. Greg’s and our youngest son is in 3rd grade at St. Greg’s also. For the past 9 years, my husband and I have been involved with many things at St. Greg's. Whether it has been Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader/Cub Master, Soccer coach, Volleyball coach, Basketball coach, volunteer and parent,  St. Greg's has been our family’s home away from home.  We cherish all the friendships we have made and will continue to make here at St. Greg’s. We are very lucky to be a part of this St. Greg's community.

Laura Bruno, Communications Specialist

Hi my name is Laura Bruno and I have been a part of St. Gregory the Great Parish in several capacities for the past ten years. Currently, I am responsible for the school side of the website and Facebook pages as well as the school's newsletter. I enjoy working with school families and seeing the smiling faces of the students everyday. Before coming to St. Greg's I was a stay-at-home parent for several years. I also enjoyed a career as a civil engineering project designer, specializing in railroad design. I have enjoyed being a part of St. Greg's. Whether it has been as a parent, volunteer, school secretary or even a Girl Scout leader, St. Greg’s has truly been my second home.  My husband Henry has coached girls basketball, soccer and has been the Assistant Athletic Director as well as the Basketball Coordinator. We have had fun volunteering at the annual parish festival. My husband and our two girls love being a part of the community at St. Greg’s. I would encourage families to volunteer. It is a great way to get to know other families and be a part of a great community!

Ms. Debra Jelich, Grade 2

I am delighted and honored to be teaching second grade at St. Gregory the Great Parish School this year! I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, majoring in Elementary Education. Prior to St. Gregory the Great Parish School, I taught second grade for four years at Blessed Savior East and over twenty years in Milwaukee Public Schools.

I am the mother of two adult sons, Alex 25 years and Nicholas 19 years. I live in Waukesha and belong to St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Wauwatosa.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy bike riding along the many beautiful trails in Wisconsin, spending quality time with my family and friends, and traveling.

"Positive people, learning, living and growing in Christ through faith and service" is evident here at St. Greg's. I truly enjoy being able to share my faith with the students everyday. I am proud to be a part of this amazing school community.  I look forward to a great and exciting school year.

Gayle Dayle, Grade 4

Hello and welcome to Fourth Grade at St. Gregory the Great Parish School! I am Gayle Dahl. I graduated from UW-Whitewater many years ago with degrees in Elementary and Special Education. I have been teaching in the Archdiocese ever since, for over thirty years now! My teaching career began in Second Grade at St. Adalbert School – I actually taught in my former third grade classroom! This is my 23rd year teaching at St. Greg’s! I love watching the sparkle in children’s eyes when they have discovered something new! I feel blessed not only to work with your children at school, but to take an active role in the faith community my family belongs to also.

When my schoolwork is done, I make time to cook and bake, read, and do counted cross-stitch. I enjoy time spent with family, friends, and travel – both near and far! Weekends can find us driving to Madison for sporting events or to visit our son who is currently attending pharmacy school there.

Mary Jablonowski, Grade 4 Instructional Aide

I am Mary Jablonowski. This is my fifth year as a member of the St. Gregory the Great staff. I am very happy to be the fourth grade instructional aide this year. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University where I majored in elementary education and Spanish.

I enjoy helping students develop various learning styles which will enable them to become more independent workers. I look forward to collaborating with the classroom teacher to provide a positive, faith-filled year of academic, spiritual, and social growth. I am especially excited to help the students become more proficient in reading, math, spelling, and writing as they learn to work individually, in groups, and as a class.

Prior to working at St. Gregory the Great, I taught primary grades in the Milwaukee archdiocese for 17 years.

My husband, Tom, and I chose Catholic education for our children from elementary school through high school. Two of our children also graduated from Catholic universities. We have three children and three grandchildren. In my free time I enjoy reading, aqua zumba, craft fairs, and fishing.

Lisa Bayer, Grade 5

My name is Mrs. Lisa Bayer, and I am very blessed to have been part of the St. Gregory the Great staff for the past 22 years. My husband and I have two adult sons, and this fall we will welcome a daughter-in-law into our family. We are also active members of the parish.

Over the past 22 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching third grade and fifth grade. Fifth grade is a very exciting year of learning, growing, and sharing our faith in Christ. I want all of my students to know that our classroom is a very loving and nurturing environment in which they can grow and become independent problem solvers. In order to become independent problem solvers, my students know that it is OK to make mistakes because that helps us to look at problems in different ways in order to determine a solution. I am a firm believer that communication is an important part of student success, and I look forward to getting to know all of my students and their families.

Hello! My name is Joanne Collins and I am very blessed to be teaching Music to God’s children here at St. Gregory the Great School.

My teaching career has always been in Music and has taken me to schools in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky. I retired at the end of the 2016-2017 school year, and after 6 weeks decided that I still had things to share with children. Our goal is that all of us will grow in the love of God through Music.

NASCAR is my favorite sport and Matt Kenseth is still my favorite driver. I do, however, follow football, baseball, basketball, and I’m especially interested in our school’s teams. See you at the games?

Until we meet: GO FAST; TURN LEFT; and KEEP A SONG IN YOUR HEART.

Amy Wabiszewski, Reading Specialist

Hello!  My name is Amy Wabiszewski.  I am excited to start my second year at St. Greg’s. This is my 9th year of teaching in both private and public schools throughout Milwaukee. I have taught 1st grade, in a 3rd/4th split classroom, and served as a Title1 intervention teacher for kindergarten through eighth grade students. I have been married for seven years, have a daughter who is almost 3 and a son who was born in January.  I believe reading is a community effort.  It takes all the people involved in a child’s life to help them become a successful reader.  I am thrilled to be another one of those people for the students of St. Greg’s and look forward to fostering a love of reading in all students!

My name is Alice Erlandson, and I am delighted to again be part of the staff at St. Gregory the Great Parish School. I graduated from Michigan State University in 1983 with a BA in Education and taught for the next 20 years. My husband and I joined the parish in 1988 and later that same year I was hired as one of St. Greg’s sixth grade teachers. I earned my Masters of Education in 1996 from Cardinal Stritch University and continued to teach full time through the 2002-2003 school year when I decided to take some time off to raise our daughters.  In 2009 I returned to St. Greg’s as an instructional aide and had the opportunity to work with some wonderful teachers. In 2015 I became the director of Bookends, St. Greg’s before- and after-school program.

My husband and I are both from Michigan, so St. Greg’s has been our family and is family to our children as well. All three of our daughters attended and graduated from St. Greg’s. I have enjoyed many roles at St. Greg’s, including sixth grade classroom teacher, parent volunteer, school committee member, Girl Scout leader and coordinator, substitute teacher, instructional aide, and Bookends director. I love that I have made so many connections with parents and students over the years. One thing that brings particular delight is to run into my former students at church, the Festival, around town or even bringing their children to attend St. Greg’s. I love to hear what they have been doing since we last saw one another and to reminisce about Africa projects, read alouds, and prepositions!

Georgia Wendorf, Bookends

My name is Georgia Wendorf, but more commonly known at St. Greg's as Mrs. G. I have been at St. Greg's since 2003. In the past 14 years, I have had many positions here. My current role is supervision for the lunch period for K-4 and K-5, both morning and lunch recess duty for all grades, and a staff worker for our after school program called "Bookends"

I have been working in the school setting since 1988, working my first 13 years in food service, and in 2001 began working as a general teaching assistant for Milwaukee Public Schools. In 2002, I was laid off from Milwaukee Public Schools and found a position in 2003 at St. Greg's.

In 2005, I completed certification in Early Childhood education from Work and Family Consulting and now center my work focus on early childhood.

I have truly been blessed to have found St. Greg's and I love interacting and working with all the children here. My job brings me great satisfaction and I look forward to each new year!
