Our lives have changed in ways that we could never have imagined and sometimes our daily living seems to be ripped right out of the pages of any movie script that has to do with contagious viruses (they are out there, trust me). As a priest who lives alone, my daily interactions and certainly my weekend mass celebrations with you are things that I miss greatly.
I am sure you have each made a running list of the things you miss as well. It is only human to do so! We can choose to live in that place--of the things we miss-- or we can choose to acknowledge those losses and look with new eyes for ways to be people of encouragement and hope.
I have been so impressed with our pastoral and school staff here at St. Greg’s. They are working daily to find new ways to inspire and teach as well as maintaining our finances and our buildings. If you haven’t connected with us on Facebook it is the best place for daily inspiration and resources.
The Archdiocese is also working on new ways to reach the faithful of Milwaukee. One way they are doing this is through an initiative called Contagious Communion. It helps us to explore the four communions—communion with God, communion with our home, communion with our neighbors and communion with the globe. There are so many resources on just that one page, that I urge you to check it out at www.archmil.org
Finally, brothers and sisters, I want to reassure you that you are in my prayers. I pray for you in a special way as I offer Mass without an assembly, and I ask that you might pray for me as well. I miss you and I look forward to seeing you all soon. Until then, please be well and may God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
