5/6/2020  IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE RETURN TO PUBLIC MASS

Dear Parishioners,

Happy Mother’s Day to all the special women in our lives who have helped to shape us into the people of faith we are today!  During this time of social distancing many of us will not be able to fully celebrate Mother’s Day. Please know I am offering a special intention for these women who have impacted our lives in many ways.

One week ago Archbishop Listecki  provided us with specific directives to begin a gradual return to mass in our churches.  The date for this gradual return is the weekend of May 30/31-Pentecost weekend!

The pastoral staff met this week and the parish council will meet next week to discuss how St. Greg’s will specifically adhere to the Archbishop’s directives.  These directives are meant to ensure the safety of all in attendance and it means that attending mass will look very different for the foreseeable future.

Archbishop Listecki is extending the dispensation for in-person mass attendance through the first weekend of July.  If you are concerned about your own health or the health of your family, please continue to watch mass at home.  Your health is our most important priority.

As soon as our specific parish directions have been finalized, they will be mailed in our next stewardship letter (5/22).  We will also place them on our website along with a link to a YouTube video that will present the directives.  Be assured this will happen in a timely fashion.

In order to safely return to Mass, I am asking those in good health to consider volunteering to help us during this challenging time.  There will be strict cleaning procedures, entrance and exit procedures, and new procedures for the reception of the Eucharist.  If we can’t fill these key volunteer areas, we sadly cannot safely return to public mass.

If you are able to assist in sanitizing the church following the mass you attend, or if you are able to assist in ushering people and providing the new directions, we need you.  Please email or call Cindy Bremeier at [email protected] or 414-543-8292 x213.  A schedule will be created and all of the details will be provided for each volunteer role.

Finally, please continue to pray for all those affected by COVID-19.  There are many people suffering in our local communities who need our prayers, now more than ever.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Todd
