GRADES 11/12 IMMEDIATE CONFIRMATION PREPARATION
The celebration of Confirmation focuses on teens' faith and commitment to Christ and their desire to enter adulthood in the parish community. Sacramental preparation for those who are 16 years of age or older includes classes, service to the community and a retreat experience.
WHEN: Sunday mornings 8:45-9:45am, 11:15-12:15pm on the Sundays that have Lighthouse Family Events (marked with * on Calendar).
WHERE: ST. Greg's Teen Room
FOR: Juniors and Seniors who have completed the 9th and 10th Grade Formation Classes or have attended 1 full year of Catholic high school.
During this year of preparation, teens are encouraged to live out their faith and make a commitment to take charge of their lifelong Faith Formation. Teen will be called to seek out a personal encounter with Jesus Christ and to share their faith with their family and friends.
As part of the confirmation preparation, Candidates for the Sacrament are asked to choose a sponsor that will be an example to them on how to live out their Catholic faith in their everyday lives.
Parents are asked to continue to support their Confirmation Candidates by encouraging them in their faith and to discuss with their candidate how they encounter Jesus in their daily life and to uplift their candidate in prayer.
Candidates will gather twice a month for special topics on the sacrament of Confirmation, complete service requirements and participate in an overnight retreat at St. Francis Seminary's Meyer Hall.
Textbook Chosen: Journey toward Confirmation
OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM
Retreat - As a requirement from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, all Confirmation Candidates must participate in a Confirmation-themed retreat. St. Gregory the Great Candidates will participate in an overnight retreat February 15-16, 2020, at St. Francis Seminary's Meyer Hall.
Service - As part of our call to be Disciples of Christ, we are called to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Service is an essential component of preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation, but it should be seen as constitutive of the gospel than as a project to be completed or hours to be counted.
With that in mind, we ask candidates to complete five (5) acts of service during the preparation year: three (3) parish events and two (2) community events.
