Grades 9/10 Pre-Confirmation Sessions
WHEN: Sunday mornings 8:45-9:45am
WHERE: Designated Classroom
FOR: Students in Grades 9 & 10
Service as well as faith sharing groups will be a part of the High School Faith Formation Program. Teens in Grades 9 & 10 will attend sessions twice a month. They will use the Catholic Faith Handbook by St. Mary's Press as their curriculum. Through this program, they will learn about the 4 Pillars of the Catholic Faith and be encouraged to live out their faith and how to encourage each other in their walk with Christ. As part of learning to live out their faith, they will be required to volunteer at three parish events during the year (6 events over the two-year program) and participate in a yearly retreat.
For those high school students that attend a Catholic high school:
Students that attend a Catholic high school are required to take religion/theology classes as part of the high school curriculum. Therefore, they are not required to participate in the High School Lighthouse Program. These students are asked to participate in the required service and participate in one of the two youth rallies.
High School Curriculum
Textbooks: Catholic Faith Handbook 3rd Edition by St. Mary's Press; Catholic Youth Bible
Year One (focus on Intro to 4 Pillars, Sacraments and Prayer)
Year Two (focus on Creed and Morality)
Other Components of Program:
Retreats: One retreat each year: either the John Bosco Youth Day at Holy Hill in October, or the Wisconsin Catholic Youth Rally in March. Students may substitute their retreat experience for both years by participating in a week-long Mission Trip in the summer.
Service: High school students in Grades 9 & 10 will be asked to volunteer for three parish-wide events.
