Hello and Welcome to St. Gregory the Great!
I am Lety Gutierrez-Kenny, Director of Faith Formation, RCIA, Adult Confirmation and Baptism registrations. I am so excited to be a part of the Ministry Team here at St. Greg’s! My ministry includes the Lighthouse Program for K-8, High School Faith Formation, sacramental preparations for Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation which includes some Youth Ministry opportunities for our middle and high school students. I have worked within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for almost twenty years, serving most of that time in Racine. I love what I have been called to do and am excited to work with the families here at St. Greg’s!
I am so grateful to be back on the Southside of Milwaukee where I grew up. My parents raised 10 of us kids and all 10 graduated from Pius XI High School. It was in high school where I began to develop my relationship with God. After taking time after high school to figure out where God wanted me, I graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Theology. After college I volunteered with NET Ministries providing retreats for middle and high school students, and I began a year of volunteer youth ministry in Texas. It was in Texas where I met my Irish husband, David, and I moved to Ireland for a year to get to know my in-laws and where my husband grew up. We always joked that we were “leprechaunos”-both Irish and Mexican. Although my speaking of Spanish is horrible, I can understand most of what is said to me, so if you speak Spanish to me, please speak slowly so I can understand. Si me hablas espanol, habla despacio para que pueda entender.
In 2001 we moved back to the U.S. and settled in Racine where I worked with the Augustinians at St. Rita as a Director of Religious Education and Youth Minister, then as a Director of Child Ministry for a collaborative program between St. Rita and St. Paul the Apostle, then as Director of Youth Ministry for these two parishes. In 2018 we adopted two children, and life has never been the same.
